💭 Learning About Learning

All great journeys start with a question. 🚢

Feynman coined this concept of ‘12 Favourite Problems’ - open-ended questions he would keep going back to whenever he came across something new. In today’s world, it’s a great filter to understand whether something is useful for you at that point or not.

Two months ago, Harsh Doshi & I quit our full-time jobs to build something together. After building, running & scaling learning programs & the LxD team together at NextLeap for 2 years, we decided to venture into the world of entrepreneurship - trying to learn in a different way.

And while a lot of questions remain unanswered for us. We are clear about questions that excite us. So here are 12 of our favourite problems -

  1. How might we prepare learners for careers that don't exist yet in an ever-changing job market?

  2. How might we create safe learning experiences for our learners that encourage expression and productive failure?

  3. How might we provide strong feedback loops to learners that can provide them visibility and opportunities for growth?

  4. How might we leverage AI to personalise learning experiences?

  5. How might we empower educators and learning experience designers with AI-driven tools to solve for operational challenges?

  6. How might we create accessible, interactive, and inclusive learning experiences for students with diverse learning needs and abilities?

  7. How might we implement problem-based learning as a cross-disciplinary approach, encouraging students to collaboratively address complex, real-world challenges throughout their education?

  8. How might we instil a passion for lifelong learning, encouraging self-driven exploration beyond formal institutions?

  9. How might we create engaging learning experiences that are embedded in the real-world?

  10. How might we evangelise learning within the education space and beyond?

  11. How might we better instrument our data systems to capture learner feelings, behaviours and emotions?

  12. How might we reimagine the assessment and evaluation processes in education to provide more holistic and authentic measures of learning and growth?

We have half-baked answers based on our experience for some problems, while for others we’re still at the very beginning of the summit.

If you’re curious to explore any of these problems together - as a personal quest or a problem you're trying to solve in your organisation, here is a link to my Calendly. I look forward to chatting and attempting to answer these questions together :)

🥜 Learning Nuggets

Questions are the currency for learning.

The more you collect and spend, the richer your learning experience becomes!

💥 Coolest Thing I Learnt this Week

Little Book of Coachable Questions

Having gone through a coaching journey at the beginning of the year, I can attest to the power of coaching in learning & growth.

I came across this little book of coachable questions that tackles questions you can ask for coaching in different contexts - self vs peer vs team and different types of coaching - feedback vs change vs career. The best part? It’s short and actionable!

Asking the Scaling Question in the L&D Scene

Getting started solving a learning needs/ problem is one of the hardest things to do. The task seems too daunting and we’re always weighed down by inertia.

This post breaks it down into simple steps:

(C) Begin with the end goal in mind 🪄

(A) Evaluate the current state ⚖️

(B) Set realistic expectations ⏱️

30 questions to bring the energy to your daily meetings

Daily stand-ups are somehow either incredibly energising or annoyingly frustrating. I came across this post with 30 amazing questions that can change your daily meeting game - check them out!
