Conversations as Learning Tools
My calendar has been open for anyone to book a slot for as long as I can remember.
10-year-old Srishti was an introvert, extremely shy to speak in front of people. My adult self looks very different and recognises that conversations are one of the best ways to learn.
Here are 3 ways I use conversations as learning tools:
1/ Dig deeper into curiosities π§
I keep an ongoing list of βCareer Curiositiesβ that I love nerding out with people on: writing, entrepreneurship, fitness, food. When I find people passionate about the same things, those conversations bring in a fresh perspective on what I want to explore further.
2/ Get a different perspective π
Sharing where Iβm struggling and asking for help. Being vulnerable didnβt always come easy, but Iβve been fortunate enough to have people around who have had my back. Sharing where I am has helped me find support in the most unexpected places, opened my mind to a new way of looking at the situation and given me strength in moments of weakness
3/ Test an idea π‘
What resonates with people? What excites them? What doesnβt? Sometimes I use conversations to test a narrative, other times to see where a half-formed idea goes. These help me get early signals and refine my thinking.
While conversations help me in so many ways, itβs easy to show up with an agenda. I try not to.
Some of the best conversations Iβve had are the ones where Iβve shown up with an open mind to learn, absorb, and let serendipity do its magic.
In a world of AI everything, these conversations feel real. I find myself holding onto them more tightly.
If you've been thinking about reaching out about anything - let this be your invitation. Here is a link to my calendar.
Here's to more conversations, more learning and more magic! πͺ
